The garden of Love
William Blake (1757-1827)
I went to the Garden of Love,
And saw what I never had seen;
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.
And the gates of this Chapel were shut
And "Thou shalt not," writ over the door;
So I turned to the Garden of Love
That so many sweet flowers bore.
And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tombstones where flowers should be;
And priests in black gowns were walking their rounds,
And binding with briars my joys and desires.
OTHER POETRYI will never find another lover
sweeter than you,
And I will never find another lover
more precious than you.
You are the only one, my everything
and for you this song I sing.
I said you're all that I'm thinking of
I promise to never fall in love with a stranger,
You're all I'm thinking of, I praise the Lord above,
For sending me your love, I'll cherish every hug,
I really love you.
And all my life, , I've prayed for someone like you,
And I thank God that I, that I finally found you,
All my life I've prayed for someone like you
And I hope that you feel the same way too.
Yes, I pray that you do, love me too.
